EERE's Mission and Funding Request

what are renewable resources

For the challenges they faced, EERE officers turned to their military history to help them. They identified risks and created specialized teams focused on specific projects and goals. Although military-style managerial approaches may not be appropriate for every situation they helped EERE to survive. Many of their goals were achieved. EERE has become one of the best-performing nonprofits worldwide. This article will provide information about their mission, funding requests, and other details.

EERE's mission

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy(EERE) is a federal government agency that has been charged with making America a worldwide leader in clean and sustainable energy. The Office has developed a roadmap that will help achieve its ambitious clean energy goals. The agency has chosen a few high-probability routes that will have the most impact in order to reach its goals.

The organization's mission consists of developing innovative energy-saving technology and policies to reduce risks associated with emerging technologies. EERE posts Funding Opportunity Announcements to help these efforts. EERE is a preferred client of electric utility interests as well as environmentalists. In some cases, it collaborates with manufacturers to implement energy-efficiency standards and policies. The Obama Administration created regional standards for appliance efficiency. This was one example of such collaboration.

EERE's funding levels have grown over the years. The Department's largest applied research and development office in applied energy is now EERE, with a total budget that exceeds $200 million for all other DOE offices. It is important to monitor the work of EERE. However, it seems that the hearing's focus is misguided.

Request for funding from EERE

FY2017 funding request includes $2.9B discretionary funding and $1.3B mandatory funding. This represents a 104 percent increase of $2.2 trillion over the FY2016 enacted level at $2.1 billion. However, EERE is not expected to be a significant participant in the projects that it supports.

This request is open to domestic and international entities. The Prime Recipient must also be an American citizen if the project is a cooperative arrangement. This determination is based on eligibility of the Prime Recient, the representative, as well the ownership and use of intellectual property rights.

The Obama Administration requested funding for innovative technologies in renewable energy efficiency. The Obama Administration also seeks to establish national clean energy innovation alliances throughout the United States in order to accelerate the development next-generation clean electricity technology pathways.

EERE's deadline to allocate funds

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of (ARRA) contained a provision in EERE that outlines the timeline for funds to be allocated and expended. As part of the ARRA, the EERE office was required to announce grant programs within 18 months, solicit applications, perform merit reviews, negotiate grants and distribute the funds. These initiatives were intended to create jobs long-term and boost the economy.

The EERE team looked at existing processes and made the decision to establish a centralized reporting system. Prior to this, each team would report to a technology development manager who would then share project data with senior stakeholders. They designed a process to centralize reporting. This included data sharing requirements and guidelines for measuring performance.

The EERE may have more than one budget period for a project. This means that funds may be allocated to more than one project.
